As we approach the 2024 elections in Nevada, Make the Road Action Nevada (MRA-NV) is gearing up for an ambitious voter engagement strategy that prioritizes the rising influence of Latine voters and young voters under 30, each expected to represent at least one-fifth of the electorate.

Through tailored conversations on local governance, MRA-NV is revolutionizing voter engagement in Nevada, partnering with experienced leaders in key regions such as Clark and Washoe Counties. This is significantly elevating interaction rates. This proactive, phased electoral initiative was initiated in February 2024 to ensure timely and effective voter outreach toward the November elections. We set new benchmarks for success and drive transformative change through this strategic approach and a history of exceeding state turnout and engagement averages.

Objectives for 2024

Historic Voter Turnout Campaign:

MRA-NV is embarking on an unprecedented journey to mobilize over 190,000 voters across the state, marking our most ambitious campaign ever. Our efforts extend beyond Las Vegas for the first time, reaching the heart of Reno and NINE of Nevada’s rural communities. This expansion reflects our commitment to making every voice heard, from city streets to rural areas.

Targeted Rural Engagement:

Our initiative deepens as we aim to connect with over 41,000 young and racially diverse voters in Nevada’s often-overlooked rural areas. By recruiting locals who share our values and championing political allies dedicated to our cause, we're bringing focused attention to communities with unique challenges and aspirations. MRA-NV is one of the only groups in Nevada that is engaging in a targeted engagement ensures that no voter is left behind as we fight to defend democracy at a truly statewide level. 

Expansion to a Dynamic 200-Member Team:

In response to our growing ambitions, we’re scaling our organization to include a 200-strong team of campaign professionals. This team powerhouse is set to spearhead a range of voter engagement tactics, from grassroots canvassing and phone banking to digital outreach. Our expanded capacity is a testament to our commitment to driving change at every level.

At the heart of MRA-NV’s endorsements lies a deeply democratic process anchored in active community participation. Through extensive dialogue with political candidates, our members have meticulously identified leaders who stand shoulder-to-shoulder with us in our quest for justice. These endorsements are not just decisions—they are declarations of our shared vision for a better future.

Our members participated in multiple meetings with representatives, addressing issues to determine who truly stands with us. These are a testament to our collective voice and commitment to those who align with our community's vision of a better life.

This year, we are proud to endorse a diverse array of candidates across the state who are excited to work with our comunidad and provide representation for the Latine and working class communities in the state of Nevada.

Cinthia Moore - District 11 - Nevada State Assembly: Born and raised in East Las Vegas!  She is a proud MRA-NV member who advocates for immigrant families, working mothers, defending reproductive rights, and fighting for sustainability.

Karl Catarata - District A - CCSD Trustee: Proud founding MRA-NV member with a background in public service and non-profit work, he champions the needs of students and their families in Nevada and is committed to making a positive impact.

Tameka Henry - District C - CCSD Trustee: Passionately advocates for Las Vegas families and education. She addresses issues like poverty, food insecurity, access to quality education, and the necessary resources to thrive for all students.

Erica Mosca - District 14 - Nevada State Assembly: She fights for social justice, educational equity, and youth empowerment as a progressive advocate.

Reuben D’silva - District 28 - Nevada State Assembly: As an advocate for economic justice and community empowerment, he fights for affordable housing, healthcare access, quality education, and more! 

Shea Backus - District 37 - Nevada State Assembly: She is a proud Cherokee Nation member and the first Indigenous woman elected to the state legislature. She advocates for top-notch education, sustainable growth, clean energy and fights for Indigenous families.

Cameron “C.H.” Miller - Ward 5 - Las Vegas City Council: He’s committed to improving the quality of life for residents of Ward 5. Advocate for youth and increasing access to the arts in film and other creative outlets for young people.

Daniele Monroe-Moreno - District 1 - Nevada State Assembly: Advocate for community empowerment, equity, and justice. She’s committed to law enforcement reform, community service, and youth mentorship. 

Cecilia Gonzalez - District 16 - Nevada State Assembly: A proud advocate for social, environmental, and economic justice, she is dedicated to serving her community in Nevada.

Miguel Martinez - Ward 3 - Reno City Council: Dedicated to economic diversity, affordable housing, and community safety. He supports small businesses and is dedicated to increasing access to healthy green spaces for all Ward 3 residents.

Frank Perez - Ward 1 - Reno City Council: Dedicated to improving Reno neighborhoods, bringing positive change, fostering community pride, and enhancing residents' quality of life. He is an advocate for education equity for all students and their families. 

Jennifer Richards - Department 1 - Reno Justice Court: She has dedicated her career to public service. She advocates for safe housing, protects people’s rights, freedom from abuse, and defends civil liberties. 

Angie Taylor - District 15 - Nevada State Senate (Reno): She is a big supporter of funding schools, supporting teachers, lowering living costs, protecting women's rights, and creating affordable housing.

Alex Velto - District 27 - Nevada State Assembly (Reno): A labor attorney who advocates for workers' rights and fosters opportunities for working families, he is strongly committed to affordable housing and advocates for quality education for all students.
